Learn to be a Marine Technician! What is a Marine Technician? A marine technician, also known as a marine mechanic, specializes in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various types of marine equipment and vessels. They work on a range of watercraft, including boats, yachts, and ships, ensuring these vessels operate safely and efficiently.
This is an in-depth course in basic life support intended for individuals who are income eligible or unemployed or and interested in pursuing a career in medical services. The course meets or exceeds current National EMS Guidelines and has Massachusetts OEMS approval. Students will earn 6 college credits upon program completion.

Shining Lights is a free ESOL (English for speakers of another language) program offered by The City of New Bedford, offering Adult Basic English classes for Beginning-level and Intermedia-level adult students. Shining Lights Program is a 32-Weeks program from September through May. Classes are offered in the morning or evening. In addition to English lessons, Shining Lights also offers life- skills seminars (e.g., Tenant & Consumer Rights), as well as History & Civics workshops and Citizenship preparation.

WASHINGTON – To support efforts to address Massachusetts’ continuing opioid crisis, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced an incremental award of $800,000 to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development to support employment and training services and disaster-relief jobs for workers in Bristol and Plymouth counties.
Regional manufacturers’ employees attended the MassHire Southeast Region 6 Lean 101 manufacturing course with MassMep on June 27, 2023. The course focused on identifying and eliminating non-value added activities, more commonly called waste. This Lean training establishes a systematic approach to eliminating waste and creating flow company wide. It also helps manufacturers develop and implement a long-term plan to streamline their operations and improve success by doing more with less. Below is a photo gallery from the class.
