Here is some more exciting news from the Census Bureau, an announcement of a wage increase for Census applicants in an effort to increase hiring.

Our local Census representative, Jose DaCunha, has held 22 recruiting events in New Bedford so far, at the libraries and at the Career Center. More events are scheduled.
Approximately 300 people have applied for Census jobs in New Bedford. The Goal is to recruit about 1100 in total. Only about 27% of the way there for New Bedford.

- A pay increase has been announced, to incentivize applicants ($27.50)!
- Those on transitional assistance will not get a reduction in SNAP benefits as a result of working for the Census.
