The Greater New Bedford Workforce Board has announced the addition of staff member Rick Marshall as their Apprenticeship Integration Manager effective immediately. This position was made possible by the Apprenticeship Expansion grant through the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

Rick has attained a career-long record of success in sales, marketing, management and consulting including positions in Massachusetts, New York and Florida.  Born in New Bedford, Mr. Marshall has helped a diverse range of clients achieve marketing dominance within various service and manufacturing sectors.  His background also comprises co-founding of a national management publishing company and Massachusetts’ first Certified Elder Law firm.  Rick is a valedictorian graduate of Johnson & Wales College; majored in marketing at Michigan State University and has been a special guest lecturer to MBA students at the Wharton School of Business.

Upon announcing the new position, GNBWB Executive Director, James D. Oliveira, stated “Rick will successfully drive our efforts to promote Apprenticeship Programs that benefit both area companies as well as applicants looking for upward opportunities.”  Mr. Oliveira continued, “At a time when many of our Pandemic related displaced workers are re-evaluating career goals and employers are finding it difficult to locate appropriate candidates, considering an Apprenticeship engagement could be the solution.  The model is working in other parts of the state and it’s time to introduce this concept to our manufacturers, and specialty job shops that support our maritime/blue economy.”  For more information contact the Workforce Board at 508-979-1504.
