Greetings Venerable Veterans!
I’m Matt Sutton, and I’m the Veterans Employment Representative for the MassHire New Bedford Career Center. I’ve been serving the veterans of Greater New Bedford since 2020 with individualized career services, and I am proud to say that in 2022 we won the Jobs for Veterans State Grant Gold Award for our myriad of successes. I mainly work with veterans who have significant barriers to employment, but I’m ready, willing, and able to ensure that all veterans who come to me receive the prioritized services that they have earned.
What is Veterans’ Priority of Service
- U.S. military veterans and other covered persons receive Priority of Service (POS) in all employment, training, and placement services in any workforce preparation program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.
- Veterans receive access to services or resources provided sooner than others.
- Covered persons include the spouse of a veteran who died of a service-connected disability, has a total service-connected disability, is missing in action, or is a prisoner of war.
